Ray Bonneville is a Canadian-born, American-raised, roaming blues poet and musician who has lived all over, including, New Orleans, Paris, Montreal and Austin. He is inspired by the places he has been and the unusual people he has met throughout his travels. His songs are like short stories, evoking true-to-life characters that stumble their way through a rough and tumble world of violence, hope and despair. Bonneville is a one-man band, he backs up his weathered, storytelling vocals with a highly percussive guitar style, dramatic harmonica lines and a foot that keeps a rock-steady beat.
Bonneville’s signature slow-grooving blues style has won him much critical attention over the last thirty years including a Juno Award for his 1999 album Gust of Wind, song of the year at the 2009 International Folk Alliance conference for his song “I Am The Big Easy”, and rave reviews from DownBeat and No Depression magazines. He has released six CDs over the years, his most recent, Goin’ by Feel, in 2008. Ray currently splits his time between Montreal, Austin and Cotter, Arkansas, where he likes to write songs and fly-fish the White River.

...works the blues-rock-country vein better than most anyone. He sings engagingly, but with more spunk than Clapton, and both his guitar and harmonica pack quiet power."- DownBeat
“Definitely one of Canada's best-kept musical secrets. His time has definitely come.” - Real Blues
“...tough, gritty songs and masterful guitar playing...Bonneville creates his own powerful and unique version of the blues.”- Dirty Linen
