Ben Sures, a Regina-born rootsy singer songwriter, has been performing since 1994. His exceptional guitar style complements his voice which can be as smooth as a torch singer’s or as rough as a blues shouter’s, always expressive and dynamic. His songwriting has been compared to that of Tom Waits, Paul Simon and Sarah Harmer. His songs, which combine lilting melodies with sharp evocative lyrics, are image-driven and take his listeners in unexpected directions.

Ben has four CDs available through Spirit River Distribution. At the concert Ben will be performing selections from and promoting his most recent CD, Field Guide to Loneliness. His song “ Any Precious Girl ” from his 2003 release Goodbye Pretty Girl won the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Competition in the folk category in 2005 and placed second in the AAA category of The International Songwriting Competition in 2006. Ben currently makes his home in Toronto.

“ the bravest songwriter in Canada ” - James Keelaghan
