New Country Rehab has only been around since 2008, but they are creating a buzz worthy of a veteran band. The musicians that contribute to this unique ensemble are all known quantities. Fiddler, lyricist and vocalist John Showman is a multi-award-winning veteran of The Creaking Tree String Quartet and The Foggy Hogtown Boys. He's joined by guitarist James Robertson of Run With Kittens and Elvis Bossa Nova; percussionist Roman Tomé who's worked with Elvis Bossa Nova and Elizabeth Shepherd; and bassist Ben Whiteley, reliable sideman to the folk stars including The Good Lovelies and son of Toronto folk legend Ken Whiteley.

New Country Rehab's formidable foursome combines their extensive experience on the folk, roots, country and bluegrass scenes to create a sound that is completely unique. Poetic lyrics, oblique arrangements, rock and roll energy and a country twang are a terrific combination in this band, both on stage and on record.

Their debut, self-titled album was released in Canada in early 2011 and highlights the group's original compositions and broad musical palette. The album was recorded and mixed by Chris Stringer, who neatly captures the energy that's made New Country Rehab a live favourite

"...New Country Rehab offer recovery from the saccharine pop that passes as country music these days." - Tabassum Siddiqui - Spinner Canada

Carol Donaldson and Theresa Burkhart are veteran Regina folk performers. Over the years they have both performed solo and in various bands. They have been singing together for the last five years and have been featured regularly on Wednesday Night Folk at The Bushwakker. Theresa's vocals and multi-instruments (guitar, mandolin and banjo) combined with Carol's softer vocals and guitar present a unique blend of roots music with great harmonies.
