Lizzy Hoyt was born into a family of professional classical musicians which fostered an early start in the music business. She landed her first professional gig, at the age of fifteen, with the award-winning country artist Eli Barsi. During her ten-year tenure with Eli she also free lanced as a back up musician for other artists including Tracey Millar, Samantha King and Maria Dunn. All the while, working on her solo career and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Lizzy currently makes her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Lizzy is now a full-time musician who tours throughout the year across North America and Europe. Her riveting performances, which feature her versatility, excellent musicianship, high energy, storytelling, and an uncanny ability to connect with her audiences, have gained her a reputation as a first-rate performer.

Lizzy's gift as a vocalist is highlighted in each of her performances as she sings with lyricism, gentleness, passion and musicality. Her original Canadian-inspired songs tell stories of home, war, immigration, and love. Traditional Celtic material is brought to life with freshness while maintaining the musical and historical integrity of the songs. Her talents on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, harp and step dance are dazzling.

Lizzy's fourth album, New Lady on the Prairie (2014), is her latest release and features a mature and refined sound that blends influences from Celtic, bluegrass and folk traditions. Lizzy's many accolades include winning Best Female Artist at the 2012 International Acoustic Music Awards, two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations and a finalist in both the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the USA Songwriting Competition.
