GrassRoots Regina is pleased to present Canadiana country-folk trio, the Steve Brockley Band, in concert.

Their sound features a rhythm section with a percussive double-bass swagger and an infectious drum beat that creates
a low-down groove to accompany Brockley's finger-picked guitar and whiskey-blend vocals.

Sunday, April 6, 2014

The Club, 2431 8th Avenue, Regina

Show starts at 8:00 p.m.

Admission: $15 at the door

The Steve Brockley Band, originally from British Columbia, was formed in the late 2000's and is comprised of Steve Brockley (guitar, vocals) Kevin Bertram (upright bass) and Leon Power (drums, mandolin). Although their knowledge and repertoire of traditional folk music is apparent, they are able to take that style in new directions without making the audience feel uprooted. The group's leader, creative songwriter and gifted guitar player, Steve Brockley, turns out fantastic tunes with tales of people, places and events. Leon Power and Kevin Bertram are both undeniably talented and inventive musicians in their own right. They offer inspired rhythm and flavour to Brockley's original compositions. The three musicians carefully pass the leading edge of the song between one another like an egg on a spoon, each weaving their unique sound over and through the others without overtaking one another. Their vocals, like their playing, are flawlessly balanced and have an absorbing effect on the listener. The arrangements are artfully and tastefully designed and vigilantly performed show after show. This band's solid rhythm threatens to overtake one's heartbeat.

The Steve Brockley Band released their self-titled debut album in 2010. Their second and latest album, LeBoeuf, was released in 2013 to critical acclaim.

"If you're into Canadiana country folk, this band is for you." - Vancouver Music Review
