Kacy & Clayton

Opening set by Marshall Burns

GrassRoots Regina is pleased to present Saskatchewan's roots duo, Kacy & Clayton, in a CD release concert

They carry on a deep tradition with their music. Their sound, honest and unrefined, is greatly influenced by the raw simplicities of Americana roots and country-blues music.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

The Club, 2431 8th Avenue, Regina

Show starts at 8:30 p.m.

Admission: $10 at the door

"Seamless harmonies, beautiful tone and some of the most impressive finger-style guitar to be heard anywhere."

Kacy Anderson and Clayton Linthicum are not interested in unnecessary decoration. The duo, who perform as Kacy & Clayton, grew up steeped in the sounds of the Piedmont blues, stirring camp meeting hymns and the English folk revival. They admire songs that say a lot with a little. And they have never stopped looking for something purer. Something simpler. Something closer to perfect.

Kacy & Clayton are very young but they are mature and impressive far beyond their years. Seemingly tapping into a very old well of inspiration, influence and musical tradition. Their arrangements employ minimal ornamentation. Kacy's completely unforced vocals are always in her own distinct and natural timbre. Clayton's guitar talents serve every song with modesty; he reserves his virtuosity for only those few transitions that require elaborate expression. Their performances are spellbinding, their songwriting spectacular. Above everything else rises their love of folk music, in all its forms.

Kacy & Clayton released their first album, Kacy & Clayton, in 2011. For their GrassRoots Regina performance they will be promoting their second album, The Day is Past and Gone. Regina's Marshall Burns (Rah Rah, The Lonesome Weekends) will provide an opening set.

"Their music is haunting and soulful, well beyond their years, and more importantly genuine and from the heart."
- Neil Bergen - CFCR Radio
